Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 Receives Wear OS 5 Upgrade
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 4 is now receiving the Wear OS 5 upgrade, branded as One UI 6 Watch. This marks a significant milestone for Samsung, as its entire Wear OS smartwatch lineup now supports the latest software despite a somewhat slow and staggered rollout.
So, what’s new in the One UI 6 upgrade for 2024? Like the Wear OS 5 updates for the Galaxy Watch 5 and 6, this upgrade brings numerous enhancements:
- Visual Improvements: New watch faces, an updated interface with a fresh default font, redesigned buttons, and toggles. Tile graphics have also been improved for a better visual experience.
- Enhanced Health Metrics: Samsung’s AI-powered energy score now provides insights into your physical and mental condition based on your sleep and exercise, along with advice to help you maintain your wellbeing.
- New Features: More detailed sleep insights, custom workout routines, and a new double-pinch gesture to simplify navigation.
- Power-Saving Mode: A new mode that extends battery life by limiting certain health features.
Released in August 2021, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 marked the return of Wear OS to the Galaxy Watch lineup. However, it’s likely that this year’s update will be the last major software upgrade for this model.
Owners can download the free upgrade via the Galaxy Wearable app by navigating to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
